Welcome to Sky View Farm, LLC

seasonal produce range from artichoke, squash, tomatoes, potatos, carrots, beans, and many more There is an increased emphasis on developing sustainable food systems in the United States - systems that connect farmers who are practicing stewardship to consumers who are supportive of sustainable farming practices. Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is such a partnership between consumer and farmer. Consumers contract with farmers before the growing season begins for a share of the upcoming harvest. They agree to share the risks and rewards of growing food in their local climate. Farmers are guaranteed a market and income; consumers receive fresh, just-picked local produce and the satisfaction of helping keep local farms in buiness. CSAs are as individual as the people who form them. For those who want to learn more about the background of the CSA, Elizabeth Henderson has written an excellent book on the topic called Sharing the Harvest.

In 2009 Rock and Esther Cozad, owners of Sky View Farm, became interested in the local food movement and decided to put their many years of organic gardening experience into a CSA group with delivery to Sherman, Texas and sales at Historic Elmont Farmers Market.  In 2010, 2011, and 2012 CSA delivery expanded to Van Alstyne and Sherman.  Squeezepenny CSA, Mckinney, Texas joined their distribution in 2011 and 2012 with deliveries to the north Dallas area. Sky View Farm also sells at Downtown Denison Farmers Market and Chestnut Square Farmers Market in Mckinney, Texas.

caterpillars on sky view farmsAs a supporter of local food through our CSA you get fresh seasonal produce free of toxic chemical residue because the foundation of our growing practice is "feeding the soil, not the plant".  And by "fresh", we mean delivered to you within 24 hours of harvest.  We work to build healthy soil by annual applications of compost, careful crop rotation, cover cropping of unused beds and use of only animal, mineral or plant derived natural fertilizers. No synthetic fertilizers or pest control chemicals are used at Sky View Farm. These practices yield a soil rich in organic matter with a diverse population of micro and macro soil organisms that benefit plant growth. We grow a wide variety of crops for direct sales to our CSA, partner CSAs, and local farmers markets.

We invite you to view our slide show of seasonal produce grown at Sky View Farm and contact us if we can be of service to you.
